The most important concept to becoming a Muslim is to believe in One God – Allah. None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, He has no partner and He is the Only Creator of this world. The next step to becoming a Muslim is to declare that Muhammad ﷺ is His last messenger. Once these two points are accepted, we welcome you to Islam and you can declare the below testimony (shahada):
“I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah; and I testify that Muhammad is His slave and last messenger.”
Hadith Muslim:
Prophet, peace be upon him, explained about belief: “The belief is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His Messengers, Judgment Day, and predestination.”
(2:177)
Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah, the Last Day, the angels, the Book, and the prophets and gives wealth, in spite of love for it, to relatives, orphans, the needy, the traveler, those who ask [for help], and for freeing slaves; [and who] establishes prayer and gives zakah; [those who] fulfill their promise when they promise; and [those who] are patient in poverty and hardship and during battle. Those are the ones who have been true, and it is those who are the righteous.
Six basic beliefs in Islam:
(1) believe in Allah
(2) believe in His messengers
(3) believe in Scriptures
(4) believe in Angels
(5) believe in Judgment Day
(6) believe in Predestination
